What type of encryption is used?▼
pdf-lib applies PDF standard encryption when saving. The resulting PDF requires the password to open in all standard PDF viewers including Adobe Acrobat, Preview, Chrome, and Firefox.
Can I recover the password if I forget it?▼
No. PDFScanner does not store passwords. If you forget the password, the file cannot be recovered through this tool. Always keep a backup of the unprotected original.
What's the difference between user and owner passwords?▼
A user password prevents opening the file. An owner password prevents editing/printing while still allowing viewing. This tool sets a user password so the file cannot be opened without it.
